TRANSITIONS MICRO AND MACRO with Carolyn Baker: CONNECTING OUR INNER AND OUTER WORLDS DURING UNPRECEDENTED CHANGE
March 28, 3-5 p.m. at BCCL
Today, many people hammered by the current economic crisis are waiting for things to get better, believing that an economic model that is inherently unsustainable can simply revitalize itself, and they can return to normal. In this presentation, Carolyn will show us why there is no return to normal and why that is in our best interests.
In her 2009 book, "Sacred Demise: Walking the Spiritual Path of Industrial Civilization's Collapse," she reveals that the collapse of industrial civilization is presenting an unprecedented and an often unwanted unveiling of who we are, and offering a new paradigm for living intimately with the earth community. Each of us has the choice to be open to and help construct the new paradigm. Evidence of economic collapse, unemployment, energy depletion and health crises has prompted many to look deeper than immediate, short-term solutions that will return everything to the familiar. They are beginning to perceive the larger picture—that we are in the middle of a collision of crises—crises that are unprecedented in human history and that there will be no benign “return tonormal” but rather, that the human species is standing at the edge of momentous demise and an evolutionary threshold that offers phenomenal opportunities for re-making ourselves and our world.
BIO: Carolyn currently works with Transition Colorado here in Boulder as a contributing writer for Transition Times and offers Transition Counseling and spiritual direction sessions to individuals both locally and long distance.
